Become a Volunteer

Anyone can be a SuperGrans volunteer. We're looking for a diverse range of people; men and women of all ages and backgrounds from all walks of life. Our ideal volunteer would bring a lifetime of practical skills and experiences and be willing to share these with others.

SuperGrans volunteers work one-on-one with families, whānau and individuals in the clients' home. Volunteers may help with cooking and meal planning, growing food, shopping more economically, home routines, home repairs and living sustainably.

Hours are flexible to suit you and the client you'll be working alongside.  We're looking for volunteers who have:

  • A genuine desire to make a difference to the lives of individuals and families in your community
  • A willingness to work with individuals and families facing challenges
  • An accepting and non-judgmental attitude
  • Patience, perseverance, optimism and a sense of humour

The SuperGrans coordinator manages the programme and matches clients' needs with the skills of our SuperGrans volunteers.

To become a SuperGran volunteer, you'll need to complete a Volunteer Application and be police vetted.

Click here to register as a volunteer.  Complete the police vetting form here.

There is also other interesting training which SuperGrans offers and will pay for – helping make you a valuable volunteer in the community.

If you have something to give and can commit to an hour or so a week, then we'd love to hear from you.
